Supervised Consumption - PSNE

Pharmacies participating in the Council’s supervised consumption scheme will directly supervise the consumption of methadone or buprenorphine as directed by an NHS prescription. 

Pharmacies participating in the Council’s needle exchange scheme will help ensure that injecting drug users within Newcastle upon Tyne have access to needle exchange facilities across the city

High Blood Pressure Service - Newcastle & Gateshead CCGs

 The Newcastle Gateshead Blood Pressure project, ‘Let’s Tackle High Blood Pressure’ is part of the BHF award programme and will create an innovative new testing and ‘identification of hypertension’ pharmacy service in Newcastle Gateshead.  The service is a partnership between Newcastle and Gateshead Local Authorities,  Newcastle Gateshead CCG and PSNE Limited.  The project will reach into local communities with a combined population of over 480,000 people to deliver FREE blood pressure monitoring (BPM), healthy living advice, brief interventions and ‘identification of hypertension’ of hypertension using Home Blood Pressure Monitoring (HBPM) to the communities that need it most. .

Hepatitis C dried blood spot testing service - Pharmacy Services North East (PSNE)

Develop and implement a testing program for HCV (and other BBVs) using dry blood spot testing in 7 community pharmacies in Newcastle.

Intermediate Stop Smoking Service & Voucher fulfilment- Newcastle Council/CGL

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in England, and is one of the most significant factors that impact on health inequalities and ill health,              particularly cancer, coronary heart disease and respiratory disease. 
Reducing smoking prevalence therefore remains a key public health priority in reducing health inequalities and improving health among local populations.

Enhanced Sexual Health Services for Community Pharmacy - PSNE

This service specification  community pharmacies across Newcastle upon Tyne to provide specialist, enhanced sexual health services within community pharmacies.

Think Pharmacy First Common Ailments Scheme - Newcastle & Gateshead CCG

The Minor Aliment Scheme, available through community pharmacies, provides the patients accessing pharmacy with advice and access to medicines where appropriate, supporting integration of the urgent care system and self-care.
Equitable access to Minor Aliment Scheme will meet the needs of a diverse population ensuring that inequalities are addressed across Newcastle and Gateshead
